Join the El Dorado County ARC as we hold our annual activation of the Big Hill summit WS/NS-290 and Park El Dorado National Forest K-4455. At the event you can learn about the POTA and SOTA programs and see examples of stations used for these activities.
The Big Hill summit has great views of the Crystal Basin and Sacramento Valley and is a great location to test the range of your HT.
Bring your portable radio gear, folding chair, picnic lunch, and sunscreen.
Directions:
Highway 50 East from Placerville for ~21 miles to Ice House Road.
North on Ice House Road for 9.9 miles to Big Hill Road
West on Big Hill Road 2.4 miles to Big Hill Lookout
